Policies and Information

The following information should be useful to you if you have been or will be connected with a tutor by JH Tuition. When making contact with a tutor, the following information should be exchanged:

  • Confirm the subjects you need tuition for

  • Agree the period you need tuition for (i.e. until summer exams)

  • Agree a time for first meeting

  • Agree a location for the first meeting/agree online tuition

  • When appropriate, discuss time and location for future regular lessons

Payments are made by direct debit. The details for this are provided separately. Please give tutors 24 hours’ notice for lesson cancellation. Lessons cancelled after this will still be charged. Lessons cannot be moved with less than 24 hours’ notice. Moving a lesson with less than 24 hours’ notice is considered a cancellation, with a new lesson booked.

Direct Debit Information

Payment for lessons is taken by direct debit. We use direct debit because it provides reliability and consistency for tutors.

The direct debit can be paused. This means you can skip a week at any time (as long as 24 hours’ notice is given) and you won't be charged, then restart when you are ready. Furthermore, you'll receive an email a few days before each charge to let you know what it's for and what amount. Further to that, you're also covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee (outlined in full here: https://gocardless.com/direct-debit/guarantee/) which means customers are entitled to a full and immediate refund of any payment that has been taken in error.

Jake Harris Tuition acts as an agency that connects students with tutors. A commission is taken by JHT from the payment for each lesson as a fee. While every effort is made by JHT to ensure the safety of all parties, it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the tuition takes place in a safe and secure environment. Please note that tutors affiliated with JHT have signed non-solicitation agreements and cannot work with JHT clients independently.
